In early 1988, Doug was invited to join the Rotary Club of Pembroke Pines, Florida.  During his tenure in the Club he held numerous leadership positions including that of Club President for 1991-1992.  He was named the Club’s Rotarian of the Year for 1989-1990 and was presented the Four-Way Test Award for 1992-1993 for his humanitarian service.

Doug joined the Rotary Club of Weston in 1994.  He has served in multiple leadership roles including those of Club Secretary (1997-1998) and Club President (1999-2000).  He was chosen to be the Club’s Rotarian of the Year for 1994-1995 and also for 2005-2006.

He has been active on the District level as well, having been an Assistant Governor for three years.  In addition, he has served as District Secretary, Aide to the Governor, District Foundation Annual Giving Chair, and twice Chair of the District Conference. Doug has also served as the District Chief of Staff and has twice chaired both the Foundation Major & Planned Gifts Committee as well as the Continuity & Governance Committee, while also serving on other District Committees.  He was selected as the District Rotarian of the Year for 2004-2005 and serves as Governor for 2010-2011.

Doug belongs to several Rotary Fellowships including Rotarians On The Internet (ROTI), International Computer Users Fellowship of Rotarians, and Rotarians on Social Networks.  He is currently the Zone 34 Director for the Rotary Global History Fellowship and has served on the Board of Directors for the International Fellowship of Rotarian Editors & Publishers.

Doug was born in Baltimore, Maryland and moved to the South Florida area in 1956.  His hobbies include golf and poker.  He is married to the lovely Deborah Ann (Past Assistant Governor / Past District Secretary).  Deborah also is a staunch Foundation supporter.  They have one son, Brad, who is a developer with a civilian defense contractor and is married to the marvelous Misty Lee, plus one grandson, Tyler.  Doug and Debbie are avid football fans and in their fleeting spare time enjoy fine wine, classic rock music, and old movies.
